Item Details
Pre-Columbian, Gulf of Mexico, Veracruz, Aztec 1300CE - 1521CE Stone Face Mask with open eyes and gritting teeth likely a ball player carved from a grey Basalt or Andesite volcanic stone with icy blue or white pigment to the eyes and mouth with some old stucco or soil to surrounding areas. Large round mask with pronounced facial features including an open mouth with gritting teeth, open almond shaped eyes, and his helmet or hairline. Above both ears and slightly forward is a decorative carving possibly reflecting the helmet or hairline. The mask is drilled above both ears with large conical holes and drilled to the top center with a single large hole possibly used to affix additional decoration. 6 1/2" H x 6" W. This auction is conducted under the listed terms and conditions. Conditions and representation of lots is provided as guidance for the bidders and should not be treated as a statement of fact. All lots are sold as is with no representation of age, condition or description. Absence of condition does not imply perfect or free of flaws including cracks, damage, tears or other possible imperfections. By participating in this auction bidders agree that all lots are sold as is without any warrants or representations with respect to the lots. The auctioneer retains the right to reject any bid and to withdraw or pass any lot at his or her absolute discretion. When identical absentee bids are submitted the auctioneer will accept the first bid presented at his or her discretion. The highest bidder as determined by the auction house shall be responsible to pay for the hammer, buyer's premium and any applicable sales tax. Ownership of lots shall not be transitioned to the respective winning bidder until the auction house is satisfied with all funds being transferred and cleared to the auction house's account. All sales are final. Buyers have 10 days to arrange for removal of lots from the auction houses facility. After 10 days the auction house reserves the right to charge a $5 storage fee for each additional day until the lots have been removed. The auction house reserves the right to relist and sell any lots which have accrued a storage fee larger than the hammer plus buyer's premium total for a given lot. Shipping and safe delivery of the lots is the buyer's responsibility. The auction house reserves the right to update or remove any lot listed at the auction house's discretion.
